320 More Signs From the Road of Life

It struck me that I haven’t done a post about pictures of signs which I’ve collected for a while, so I thought that might be fun for a change.  Therefore, here we go!

Anyone, especially anyone who has lived in the South, will understand the sign below as good parental advice for their children.  Actually, it’s probably good advice for anyone!

We, Americans, are not always known for our attention to the “proper” rules of punctuation, grammar, etc.  This sign demonstrates how a lack of proper respect for punctuation MIGHT lead to someone saying (or writing) something which is (I hope) not really what was intended.  Of course, one can’t always be sure….

I suspect that this sign was taken from in front of a fast food restaurant, but I don’t know that for a fact.  As a long-time coffeeholic, however, I have to admit that I do tend to understand and even agree with the sentiment presented here.

This next one isn’t actually a sign, it’s just a picture I found on the Internet, but which has been turned into a sort-of sign expressing one of my favorite notions — that Social Media is really quite a poor place to get information, as the accuracy of such can’t always be relied on.  I think these pictures represent this idea quite effectively.

It’s been a running gag for years that doctors have bad handwriting.  Actually, a LOT of people (including many teachers) can, and do, have poor handwriting, which is NOT helped by our society’s recent heavy reliance on having us “sign” our name with our finger on an electronic screen, which is not really designed to create an accurate reproduction of that signature, even if we COULD manage to “finger-sign” with reasonable accuracy.  Still, a great deal of “Doctor humor” is based on the illegibility of Doctoral handwriting, so this sign has a definite place in the annals of “Doctor” humor, and I found it amusing.

I confess to often wondering why some people seem to think certain signs are necessary.  Still, I can usually find a reasonably rational reason for many, if not all, of the signs I encounter.  However, THIS one strikes me as exclusively having the purpose of selling a sign to some state’s DOT.  What do you think?

It appears to me that the guy assigned to install the sign up thought it was amusing, as well.

Then, there ARE some signs which require a bit of thought to understand, or to get the humor of.  This is one of THOSE signs, I think.

Occasionally, something in popular culture can become, or can be altered, to create a humorous image.  As an old fan of the Star Trek TV show and the first set of Star Trek movies, I got quite a chuckle out of THIS image.
Picture
Every so often, however, one encounters a sign which seems to just capture the essence of “signdom.”  I offer THIS image as an example of such a one.  There’s just some sort of simple elegance about this image which I think suits the situation quite well.  What do you think?
Picture
I expect that I shall return in a couple of weeks, although some might prefer that I didn’t.

Understanding its melting point helps ensure that gold maintains its quality and value during manufacturing and reshaping. In scientific terms, gold’s melting point of 1,064°C is a reflection of its atomic structure.

Large trees taller than may cost over. Additional costs can apply if the job requires cranes, stump grinding, or debris hauling. It’s important to request itemized quotes from reputable arborists to compare pricing and avoid unexpected charges later on.
